FAQ

Questions, answered.

What Tart Cherry does, how to take it, what the research says, what makes Ellavore different, and what to expect — clear answers to the questions we hear most.

Ellavore Tart Cherry is a simple daily tart cherry supplement made for people who want an easy way to add concentrated tart cherry to their routine.

Each daily serving provides 3,600 mg of tart cherry across two capsules, with 60 capsules in every bottle.

Tart cherry has been studied for decades for areas including healthy uric acid physiology, joint comfort, exercise recovery, antioxidant support and sleep.

We chose capsules because they make tart cherry easy to take every day without drinking large amounts of tart cherry juice.

Tart cherries naturally contain plant compounds called polyphenols, including anthocyanins.

These compounds are one reason scientists have become interested in tart cherry. Human studies have investigated how tart cherry may influence things such as:

  • Uric acid physiology
  • Exercise recovery
  • Oxidative stress
  • Healthy inflammatory responses
  • Muscle soreness and strength recovery
  • Sleep

Rather than working like a stimulant that you immediately “feel,” tart cherry is better thought of as something that may support normal processes already taking place inside the body.

This is one of the most researched reasons people take tart cherry.

Uric acid is something your body naturally produces. Your body normally keeps it balanced by producing it and removing it.

Researchers have studied whether compounds naturally found in cherries may help support this normal uric-acid balance.

For example, one randomized human study reported a 19.2% reduction in serum urate after four weeks of tart cherry juice, while another tart cherry intervention reported an average decrease of around 8% across treatments.

That does not mean everyone will experience the same change, but it helps explain why tart cherry has become so closely associated with healthy uric acid support.

Tart Cherry is a dietary supplement and is not a treatment for gout or a replacement for prescribed medication.

That's one of the main reasons many people choose tart cherry.

Tart cherry contains naturally occurring plant compounds that researchers have studied in relation to oxidative stress, healthy inflammatory responses and physical recovery.

Those areas are closely connected with how comfortable your body can feel after everyday activity or strenuous exercise.

For that reason, we think of Ellavore Tart Cherry as part of a simple daily routine designed to help support comfortable movement and an active lifestyle.

It is not intended to treat arthritis, gout or another joint disease.

Exercise recovery is one of the strongest areas of tart cherry research.

Controlled studies and larger research reviews have reported benefits involving:

  • Muscle strength recovery
  • Muscular power
  • Sprint recovery
  • Jump performance
  • Muscle soreness
  • Selected inflammatory markers after strenuous exercise

A 2021 systematic review and meta-analysis combining 14 tart cherry studies found beneficial effects across several measures of recovery.

Another newer analysis combining 19 trials also reported improvements in selected measures of muscle-strength recovery.

So whether your exercise is a hard workout, a long walk or simply staying active, tart cherry has an interesting and growing body of research behind it.

There isn't one exact timeline because people take tart cherry for different reasons and everybody responds differently.

Some exercise studies measured changes during the 24–48 hours after strenuous activity, while studies looking at other areas have used tart cherry consistently for several weeks.

The important thing is consistency.

We recommend taking your daily serving every day rather than expecting tart cherry to behave like a fast-acting painkiller or stimulant.

For many people, the best approach is simply to make it part of their daily routine and judge how they feel over the following weeks.
